Fertility & Functional Wellness
Hi, I’m Alyssa — Fertility Nurse and Functional Wellness Specialist. I help women uncover the deeper factors impacting their fertility so they can feel more confident, informed, and connected to their bodies.
Through my own journey and years working in fertility care, I help women feel seen, supported, and empowered on their fertility journey — whether you're trying naturally, prepping for IVF, or somewhere in between.

Where science meets soul, and healing begins at the root.

Infertility is not simply “bad luck” or “bad genes.” But for many women, that’s the message they’ve been given — that infertility is fixed, predetermined, or something you simply have to work around.
The truth is far more hopeful. Fertility is deeply connected to the whole body. And when something feels off, your body isn’t failing — it’s communicating.
Your hormones, gut health, inflammation levels, stress response, sleep, nutrition, environment, genetics, and daily habits all work together. Genetics may play a role, but environment and lifestyle determine how those genes express. And when the body is overwhelmed, inflamed, or out of balance, fertility often goes “offline” as a protective response.
Not because you did something wrong.
But because your body is wise — always trying to keep you safe.
When underlying inflammation, stress, or imbalance builds over time, it can act like a quiet fire beneath the surface — draining the body’s energy and signaling that it isn’t the right time for reproduction. In this state, the body prioritizes protection, not conception.
As we begin supporting the body, calming that internal fire, and helping it feel safe again, fertility often becomes more available. When the system isn’t overwhelmed, it naturally shifts out of protection mode and into a place where healing, balance, and reproductive function can return.
This is why getting to the root matters — not just for improving fertility, but for supporting long-term health, balance, energy, and overall wellbeing.
Your body isn’t broken.
It’s speaking.
And together, we learn how to listen.
My Personal Journey
My journey into fertility and functional wellness wasn’t driven by a textbook or a certification — it was driven by my own story.

Long before I ever understood the root-cause approach, I spent years in a cycle of confusion, frustration, and unanswered questions. Like so many women, I struggled with infertility for two years, and every time I looked for answers, I was told that everything looked “normal.” But nothing felt normal.
My periods were almost nonexistent — light, irregular, and barely there. My AMH was extremely low for my age.
I knew something was off, but I didn’t have the language or the support to understand why.
Looking back, the signs were everywhere.
My thyroid levels were trending high — not technically outside the “normal range,” but far from what the body needs to feel safe enough to conceive. I was told they were fine. I now know they weren’t. My body was trying to communicate long before fertility ever became an issue.
Through fertility treatment, I eventually conceived — but I didn’t realize it at the time: I had only worked around the problem, not healed it. My body still wasn’t healthy, balanced, or supported at the root.
And that showed up quickly.
During pregnancy, I developed severe hyperemesis. I was incredibly sick for months, depleted, malnourished, and barely functioning. After birth, things unraveled even more. I went into a full autoimmune crisis, was eventually diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, and could hardly function. I was exhausted, inflamed, overwhelmed, and deeply unwell — both physically and emotionally.

It wasn’t until I dove into my own functional wellness journey that everything changed.
Once I began looking at the whole picture — gut health, inflammation, stress, nutrition, hormones, environment, and nervous system — the answers finally appeared.

I discovered severe gut overgrowth, low stomach acid, significant inflammation, multiple food sensitivities, and environmental toxin exposure. For the first time, everything made sense.

And once I addressed the root causes — not the symptoms — my body healed.

My autoimmune markers reversed.
My energy returned.
My mood stabilized.
My digestion and nervous system calmed.
My brain fog disappeared.
My periods strengthened, regulated, and became consistent again.
And I felt more balanced, grounded and healthy than I ever had in my adult life.

This experience didn’t just change me — it shaped the way I see fertility and wellness forever.

I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed.
To feel dismissed.
To sense something deeper is going on but have no one validate it.
To feel hope slipping away because nothing is actually changing.

And I know the profound shift that happens when you finally understand the root — when things click, when healing becomes possible, when your body starts to feel safe again.

This is why I do this work.
Because healing at the root doesn’t just improve fertility — it transforms your whole life.
Your health. Your energy. Your confidence. Your connection to your body.

Women deserve that.
You deserve that.

And I’m here to help you find it.

Why I Created Balance & Bloom
After walking through my own fertility challenges, pregnancy complications, and autoimmune crisis, I saw how many women were experiencing the same confusion I once felt — being told everything looked “normal,” even when nothing felt normal.

Working inside IVF and fertility clinics only confirmed it. Women were overwhelmed with information, dismissed when bringing up abnormal symptoms, and left trying to make sense of their cycles, hormones, digestion, and emotional wellbeing on their own.

As I worked with women day after day, I kept seeing the same patterns repeating themselves. So many were struggling with thyroid symptoms, gut issues, reflux, anxiety or long-standing inflammation — and it was easy to start believing this was just a coincidence or “part of infertility.” But it isn’t. Just because something is common does not mean it is normal. It’s not normal for women in their 20s, 30s, or 40s to experience such significant thyroid dysfunction, digestive issues, or inflammatory symptoms — and the fact that so many do is a sign that something deeper is happening within this entire population.

These patterns weren’t random.
They were telling a story.
And the more I saw them, the harder they became to ignore.

One of the most challenging parts was knowing how much women were struggling and seeing these patterns so clearly, yet realizing there were limits to what I could address within the traditional framework of care. Conventional fertility clinics play an incredibly important role, but they are often fast-paced, symptom-focused, and structured around specific protocols. There wasn’t always time or space to explore the deeper lifestyle, nutritional, gut, stress, or inflammatory patterns I was noticing — or to share the types of insights that had transformed my own health.

It became a moral struggle for me. I wanted to help women feel truly understood, to connect the dots, and to give them the kind of education and support I wished I had myself — but within that setting, I couldn’t always go as deep as I felt women needed.

I created Balance & Bloom to offer what I wish every woman had:
a space where her concerns are taken seriously, her symptoms make sense, and her whole body is considered — not just her labs or diagnosis.

My mission is to change the way we approach fertility and women’s wellness.
Not through fear or pressure, but through root-cause understanding, education, compassion, and support that helps women feel seen, informed, and empowered again.

Balance & Bloom brings together everything I’ve learned — as a fertility nurse, a functional wellness specialist, and a woman who walked this path myself.
It’s here to help women understand their bodies more deeply and finally get the support they’ve been missing.
My Approach
The Five Petals of Fertility Wellness
Fertility is not determined by one hormone, one symptom, or one moment in time.
It is the reflection of how the entire body is functioning — physically, emotionally, energetically, and environmentally.

My approach blends science-informed functional wellness with compassionate, whole-body support. It is designed to help you understand why your body is responding the way it is, and what it needs to feel safe, balanced, and supported again.

To make this process clear and approachable, I use a framework I created called The Five Petals of Fertility Wellness — a holistic structure that looks at fertility through multiple lenses rather than isolating one piece of the puzzle.

The Five Petals include:
-
Mindset & Emotional Resilience
-
Stress & Lifestyle Balance
-
Nutrition & Gentle Detox Foundations
-
Physical & Hormonal Health
-
Connection, Spirituality & Belief Systems
Each petal represents a key area that influences fertility and whole-body wellness.
And the truth is, most women have imbalances in more than one of these areas — not because they’ve done anything wrong, but because modern life has made it almost impossible not to.

We explore each petal at a pace that feels supportive and aligned with your unique story.
There is no “one-size-fits-all” pathway.
Your body leads — and we listen.

What this means for you
My approach is not about quick fixes, fear-based changes, or unrealistic routines.
It’s about helping you:
-
understand your body clearly
-
uncover root-cause patterns
-
calm inflammation and stress
-
support digestion, hormones, and detox pathways
-
reconnect with your intuition
-
create supportive routines and nourishment
-
build resilience emotionally and physically
-
feel safe, balanced, and grounded in your fertility journey
When the body feels supported — not overwhelmed — fertility often becomes more available.
This approach isn’t meant to replace medical care, but to complement it by addressing the deeper factors that are often overlooked. My role is to guide, educate, and support you through a process that honors your whole self — not just your labs or symptoms.
Healing isn’t linear.
But it IS possible.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Who I Support
I work with women who are ready to understand their bodies on a deeper level — whether they’re trying to conceive, preparing for IVF, navigating unexplained symptoms, or simply wanting to feel more balanced, energized, and connected to themselves.

Most women who find their way here share similar feelings:
they’re overwhelmed with information, unsure what to trust, tired of being told everything looks “normal,” and ready for clarity that finally makes sense.

You don’t need a diagnosis to deserve support.
You only need the desire to understand your body and the hope that healing is possible.
If you’re looking for someone who will listen, connect the dots, and walk with you through the deeper layers of your fertility and wellness journey—you’re in the right place.
